Our base at Gouvia Marina on Corfu – ideally located for the start of a sailing holiday in the Ionian Sea – is a great destination for sailing enthusiasts seeking to sail in the sun around the beautiful Greek islands including Corfu, Paxos and Anti-Paxos as well as the near mainland.
It is situated in Gouvia Bay, 9 km from Corfu Town.
A great choice of airlines including low cost airlines like Easyjet, Jet 2 and Ryanair fly into Corfu each week and the Marina is only 10 minutes drive from Corfu airport.
Corfu is the biggest living medieval city in Greece and one of the loveliest in the Mediterranean with one of the largest public squares in Greece and two fortresses: the New Fort as well as the intriguing Old Venetian Fort, constructed on a peninsula in the Fifteenth Century.
There are lovely old villages, marvellous beaches, and many places of historical interest.
Palairos Base
Palairos Base
Our main base is in Palairos, just a few miles south-east of Lefkas Canal facing Scorpios Island.
It is a charming Greek fishing harbour with a rich history going back to the Mycenaean period (2000 B.C.).
There is a lot to discover: several caves, a fortress from the 5th century, a salt lake leftover from Homer’s time which was the saviour of Queen Cleopatra during the battle of Action – even Odysseus’ “Ithaka” has been claimed to be located in the area near Palairos (by the German researcher Dorpfeld).
It is the perfect place to start and finish your holiday with a beautiful sandy beach just a few steps away from your boat!
